5 TIPS: HOW TO STAY FOOTBALL FIT IN AUTUMN!
Shorter days, falling temperatures, and unpleasant weather – autumn presents young footballers with new challenges. But now is the perfect time to lay the foundation for your athletic development!
Those who work specifically on their skills even during the cold season can start the next season with a real advantage.
We've compiled five tips to help you stay on track throughout the autumn.
1. TECHNOLOGY ALWAYS WORKS – EVEN IN SMALL SPACES
You don't need a large football pitch to improve your technique. Just 15 to 20 minutes of targeted training can make a difference.
Work regularly on your ball control, first touch, and ambidexterity. Exercises like ball juggling, short passing sequences against a wall, or close dribbling can also be done in limited spaces.
Our tip: Consciously train with your weaker foot as well. The more confident you become with both feet, the more options you'll have later in the game.
2. IMPROVE YOUR COORDINATION
Coordination is an important basis for speed, agility and technical safety.
Use simple exercises with quick changes of direction, one-legged balance tasks, or short reaction games. A coordination ladder is also helpful, but not absolutely necessary.
Our tip: Combine coordination exercises with the ball. This way you not only train your movements, but also your football-specific skills.
3. BAD WEATHER? NO REASON TO TAKE A BREAK FROM TRAINING!
Rain, wind or cold don't have to mean your training has to be cancelled.
Indoor training offers ideal opportunities to work on your technique, ball control and reaction speed, regardless of weather conditions.
Especially on smaller playing fields, there are many ball contacts and game situations in which you have to react quickly and make decisions.
Our tip: Use the autumn and winter months consciously for additional technical training sessions.
4. Regeneration is part of training
Those who want to improve don't need to train at maximum intensity every day. Especially for young footballers, sufficient rest and a balanced ratio between exertion and recovery are crucial.
Make sure you get enough sleep, drink plenty of fluids regularly, and eat a varied diet.
Our tip: Consciously schedule rest days. Your body needs time to recover from intense workouts.
5. SET SMALL, ACHIEVEABLE GOALS
Motivation arises from progress. Therefore, consider which skills you specifically want to improve in the coming weeks.
Perhaps you want to become more confident with your weaker foot, improve your ball control, or act more bravely in one-on-one situations.
Set yourself concrete goals and regularly review your progress.
Our tip: Focus on one or two training areas at a time. Consistency is more important than doing as many different exercises as possible.
